Position Summary: As a Mental Health Specialist in a school setting, you will develop and implement therapeutic interventions to support the emotional and behavioral needs of students. You’ll provide individual and group therapy, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and ensure all documentation and treatment plans are completed in alignment with student goals and organizational standards.
Responsibilities include:
Developing behavioral, therapeutic, and psychiatric intervention strategies
Monitoring and reviewing daily documentation completed by Mental Health Workers
Conducting group therapy activities at least twice weekly
Conducting individual therapy sessions at least twice weekly
Selecting and evaluating treatment materials appropriate for assigned age groups
Collaborating with interdisciplinary school teams and related professionals
Managing intake and discharge processes, including required paperwork
Developing, executing, and evaluating individualized treatment plans with the team
Recording attendance for billing purposes
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a recognized mental health clinical discipline (required)
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the mental health field or related services organization
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and youth who exhibit emotional disturbance
