What You’ll Do

As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will provide specialized educational support to students with blindness or visual impairments within school-based settings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide itinerant vision-related educational services to students with visual impairments or blindness
  • Deliver individualized instruction, including Braille and orientation & mobility support
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
  • Develop accommodations and specialized learning materials based on student needs
  • Participate as an active member of the IEP team, including writing goals and monitoring progress
  • Plan and implement lessons tailored to students’ visual and educational needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and submit required reports
  • Assist with acquiring and implementing adaptive equipment and accessible materials
  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to support student inclusion and success

What We’re Looking For

  • Certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments required
  • Experience working with students with blindness or visual impairments preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs
  • Commitment to creating accessible and inclusive educational environments
