School Audiologist

Position Summary
Nyman Associates is seeking a qualified and compassionate School-Based Audiologist to provide comprehensive audiological services within Pennsylvania school districts.

The Audiologist will support students with hearing impairments and hearing-related educational needs by providing evaluations, consultation, hearing support services, and assistive technology recommendations in accordance with IDEA, Section 504, Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations, and district policies.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary educational teams to ensure students have appropriate access to communication, instruction, and educational programming.


Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct audiological evaluations, hearing screenings, and assessments for students referred for suspected hearing impairments, auditory processing concerns, or educational hearing needs.
  • Support Child Find activities and assist in the identification of students with hearing loss or hearing-related educational concerns.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations, eligibility determinations, reevaluations, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
  • Provide consultation to educators, families, administrators, and related service providers regarding the educational impact of hearing loss and appropriate accommodations.
  • Recommend, monitor, and troubleshoot hearing assistive technology including FM systems, sound field systems, amplification devices, cochlear implant supports, and classroom audio equipment.
  • Collaborate with Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Speech-Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and additional educational staff to support student success.
  • Provide staff training regarding hearing impairments, communication access, classroom acoustics, assistive listening devices, and instructional strategies.
  • Monitor hearing equipment and ensure students maintain consistent access to educational instruction and communication throughout the school day.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, evaluation reports, service records, and compliance documentation in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements and professional standards.
  • Assist in the development of accommodations, modifications, and intervention strategies to support student participation, independence, and educational progress.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate or Master’s Degree in Audiology from an accredited program.
  • Active Pennsylvania Audiologist License required.
  • Educational Specialist certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (if required by assignment/district) preferred.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) preferred.
  • Previous pediatric or school-based audiology experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, Section 504, and Pennsylvania special education regulations.
  • Experience with educational audiology practices and hearing assistive technology preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel between school locations, if required.
  • Ability to operate audiological testing equipment and assistive technology devices.
