Position Summary Nyman Associates is seeking a qualified and compassionate School-Based Audiologist to support students within New Jersey school districts. The Audiologist will provide comprehensive audiological services to students with hearing impairments and hearing-related educational needs in accordance with IDEA, Section 504, New Jersey Department of Education regulations, and district policies.
The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary educational teams to ensure students have appropriate access to instruction, communication supports, and hearing assistive technology within the educational setting.
Essential Responsibilities
Conduct audiological evaluations, hearing screenings, and assessments for students referred for suspected hearing impairments or auditory processing concerns.
Support Child Find activities and assist in the identification of students with hearing loss or hearing-related educational needs.
Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations, eligibility determinations, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
Provide consultation to school staff, families, and related service providers regarding hearing loss, educational impact, and classroom accommodations.
Recommend, monitor, and troubleshoot hearing assistive technology including FM systems, amplification devices, cochlear implant supports, and classroom audio equipment.
Collaborate with Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TODHH), Speech-Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and other educational team members to support student success.
Monitor student hearing equipment and ensure proper functioning and educational access throughout the school day.
Provide staff training regarding hearing impairments, classroom acoustics, communication access, and use of assistive technology.
Maintain accurate documentation, evaluation reports, service logs, and compliance records in accordance with district and professional standards.
Support the development of appropriate accommodations, modifications, and intervention strategies to maximize student participation and educational progress.
Qualifications
Doctorate or Master’s Degree in Audiology from an accredited program.
Active New Jersey Audiology License required.
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) preferred.
Previous school-based or pediatric audiology experience preferred.
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, Section 504, and school-based service delivery models.
Experience with hearing assistive technology and educational audiology practices preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel between school locations, if required.
Ability to operate audiological testing and assistive technology equipment.
