Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing (TDOH) Nyman Associates is seeking compassionate, self-directed, and organized individuals to support students with identified hearing needs.
Position Summary:As a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing (TDOH), you will be responsible for providing support and educational services to students with hearing needs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to promote academic success. Your role involves planning, implementing and monitoring strategies for each student that will enable him/her to achieve academic success.
Responsibilities:
Assist district staff in supporting students’ daily use of hearing assistive technology, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, BAHA devices, Roger and FM systems, as appropriate
Provide technical assistance to District staff in the areas of evaluation, instruction and curriculum, emphasizing problem solving, reasoning skill development, self-advocacy skill development
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and/or small group instruction, when needed and in collaboration with appropriate staff
Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintain accurate, timely records and prepare progress reports
Collect data to support programming development
Collaborate with staff and therapists
Facilitate positive interactions between students and staff, students and peers and students and community members.
Develop IEP goals and attend IEP meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education
Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or equivalent credential, depending on current state/program specific requirements.
Experience working with students with hearing loss or deafness
